Fat VS. Muscle
I volunteer as an expert for allexperts.com. I get a wide range of questions, and the most frequent question I get is “how do I tone my fat?” For starters you tone muscle not fat.
A lot of the letters I get sound something like this:
“I workout 5 to 6 days a week, half of the time is spent doing resistance training and the other half of the time I do aerobic training on the treadmill. I feel stronger but I still have the jiggle on the back of my arms and around my waist. How do I tone this up? I am beginning to feel very frustrated with my exercising efforts and lack of results. “Help!’
My first question in response to this would be, how good is your diet? This person may have a well developed set of triceps and abs, but if there is a layer of fat on top of them, then you will never see the muscle. Is this an exercise problem or a diet problem? In my opinion her diet is probably the culprit.
Somewhere along the way the diet is off. I believe many people get frustrated because they workout hard on a consistent basis and they never truly see the results they deserve for all the hard work they put out. Before you know it they give up and quit, with the attitude that exercise doesn’t work.
Take inventory of everything before judging your results. Are your training programs correct and is your diet in order?
Stay Motivated,
Karen
